Urgent Service Information

Explore our range of services designed to provide your pet with the best urgent care, from comprehensive examinations and diagnostics to effective treatments.

Diagnostic Lab

The diagnostic lab here at LVUC plays a crucial role in providing timely and accurate treatment for your pet. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, our lab can perform a variety of tests, such as blood work, urinalysis, and parasite screening, among others.

The ability to conduct these tests on-site and often with rapid results allows for quicker diagnosis and immediate initiation of treatment. This is particularly beneficial in urgent care settings where time is of the essence.

The lab’s skilled technicians work closely with the veterinarians to interpret the results, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of your pet’s health and the most effective treatment plan.

Radiology

Radiology is another integral component of LVUC, providing essential imaging services that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions. The immediacy of these services in an urgent care setting is invaluable, as it allows for rapid diagnosis and treatment planning.

Our radiology department is equipped with digital X-rays. This tool allows our veterinarians to visualize the internal structures of your pet’s body, helping them identify issues ranging from fractures and foreign objects to tumors and internal diseases.

All radiographs sent to and read by a board certified radiologist, within 1 hour, in order to provide the best care possible to your fur baby.

The radiology team, consisting of trained technicians and veterinarians, ensures the safe and effective use of these technologies, contributing significantly to the comprehensive care your pet receives.

Ultrasound

At our urgent care facility, we offer focused ultrasound services including AFAST and TFAST (Abdominal/Thoracic Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma) scans. These targeted evaluations help us quickly assess for internal injuries, fluid accumulation, or other critical conditions in emergency situations. Please note that our ultrasound services are intended for immediate, point-of-care assessments and are not diagnostic scans performed by a specialist.

Pharmacy

The on-site pharmacy here at LVUC is a key component in providing comprehensive and timely care for your pet. Our facility stocks a wide range of medications, from antibiotics and pain relievers to specialized drugs for chronic conditions. Having immediate access to these medications means that treatment can begin right away, without the delay of having to visit a separate pharmacy.

In addition to dispensing medications, the pharmacy team also provides important services such as advising on proper dosage, explaining potential side effects, and offering guidance on medication administration. This ensures that pet owners are fully informed and feel confident in managing their pet’s medication regimen at home.

The integration of the pharmacy within our urgent care center streamlines the treatment process, making it more convenient and efficient for both the pet and the owner.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia services offered here at LVUC are provided with the utmost compassion and respect for your pet. This service is typically offered when a pet is suffering from a terminal illness or severe injury, and the decision is made to prevent further suffering. The process is carried out by experienced veterinarians who ensure it is as peaceful and painless as possible.

The veterinary team provides support and guidance to pet owners throughout this difficult process, explaining the procedure and answering any questions. They also offer resources for grief counseling and pet loss support, understanding that the loss of a pet can be a deeply emotional experience.

While it’s a difficult part of veterinary care, euthanasia services provided by LVUC aim to offer a humane and dignified end-of-life solution for pets in distress.
