Dr. Tyler Pelfrey, DVM

Veterinarian

Born and raised in Paintsville, Kentucky, Dr. Pelfrey pursued his passion for animals at Morehead State University, majoring in biology/pre-vet, and later at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated in 2015 after a clinical year at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Pelfrey’s career has taken him from a general practice in central Florida to the Idaho Panhandle, and then back to Kentucky. Along the way, he gained advanced training in emergency medicine and served as a Senior Emergency Clinician at Bluepearl Louisville for 2.5 years.

In the fall of 2023, recognizing a growing need for a middle ground between routine vet visits and emergency room trips, Dr. Pelfrey courageously embarked on a new venture. He established his own practice, Louisville Veterinary Urgent Care, with a clear mission: to provide top-notch urgent care for pets and to nurture the special bond between pets and their owners. Welcoming its first patients in September 2023, Louisville Veterinary Urgent Care has been committed to filling this crucial gap in pet healthcare ever since.

When he’s not at the clinic, Dr. Pelfrey loves spending time with his family, which includes his son, wife, three dogs, and two cats. If you’re ever on the Louisville Loop, keep an eye out for him – he might be running, cycling, or enjoying a family stroll.
