Frequently Asked Questions
At Louisville Veterinary Urgent Care, we understand that pet owners often have questions about our services, scheduling, and what to expect during a visit. Our goal is to make every experience simple, transparent, and stress-free — for both you and your pet. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive.
What Is Veterinary Urgent Care?
Veterinary urgent care provides immediate attention for pets with non-life-threatening illnesses or injuries that require prompt treatment but don’t need a full emergency hospital.
Examples include ear infections, vomiting, diarrhea, limping, coughing, or minor wounds.
We bridge the gap between your regular veterinarian and the emergency room — offering professional, compassionate care when your pet needs it most.
Do I Need an Appointment, or Can I Walk In?
You can walk in anytime during our business hours or book online for a shorter wait.
To save time, you can also check in online before you arrive or call (502) 792-7600 to confirm availability.
What Types of Pets Do You Treat?
Our clinic provides care for:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Small mammals such as guinea pigs, hamsters, and chinchillas
We do not treat birds, reptiles, or other exotic species at this time.

Can You Share My Pet’s Records with My Regular Veterinarian?
Absolutely. We send all visit summaries, diagnostics, and treatment details directly to your regular veterinarian to ensure continuity of care.
If your pet doesn’t have a regular vet, we’ll be happy to recommend one for ongoing wellness care.

To help our team provide the best possible care, please bring:
